Mesa est une bibliothèque graphique 3-D dont l'API est très similaire à celle d'OpenGL.* Dans la mesure où Mesa utilise la syntaxe des commandes ou la machine d'états d'OpenGL, elle est utilisée avec l'autorisation de Silicon Graphics, Inc.(SGI). Cependant, l'auteur ne possède pas de licence OpenGL de SGI et ne prétend en aucun cas que Mesa soit un remplacement compatible d'OpenGL ni qu'elle soit associée à SGI. Ceux qui souhaitent une implémentation sous licence d'OpenGL doivent contacter un fournisseur sous licence. Veuillez ne pas appeler la bibliothèque MesaGL (pour des raisons juridiques).
