Libreria di gestione dei font X per server e utilità
libXfont fornisce il nucleo del sistema di font legacy di X11, gestendo
i file di indice (fonts.dir, fonts.alias, fonts.scale), i vari
formati di file dei font e la loro rasterizzazione. È usata dai server X,
dal X Font Server (xfs) e da alcune utilità per i font (ad esempio
bdftopcf), ma non dovrebbe essere usata dai normali client X11. I client X11
accedono ai font tramite le nuove API in libXft o le API legacy in
libX11.
