Een compliance-controleur voor bibliotheek-ABI's

ABI Compliance Checker (ACC) is een gebruiksvriendelijke tool voor het controleren van achterwaartse binaire compatibiliteit (BC) van een gedeelde C/C++-bibliotheek. Het controleert headerbestanden samen met gedeelde bibliotheken van oude en nieuwe versies en analyseert wijzigingen in de Application Binary Interface (ABI) die compatibiliteitsproblemen kunnen veroorzaken: wijzigingen in de aanroepstack, v-table-wijzigingen, verwijderde symbolen, enz. Breuk van de binaire compatibiliteit kan leiden tot crashes of onjuist gedrag van toepassingen die met een oude versie van de bibliotheek zijn gebouwd wanneer ze op een nieuwe draaien. De tool is bedoeld voor bibliotheekontwikkelaars en besturingssysteembeheerders die binaire compatibiliteit willen waarborgen, d.w.z. oude toepassingen laten werken met nieuwere bibliotheekversies zonder hercompilatie.
