Isto permite ao git armazenar repositórios git de forma encriptada. Suporta o armazenamento de repositórios em servidores rsync ou sftp. Também pode armazenar o repositório git encriptado dentro de um repositório git remoto. Todos os comandos git habituais como git push e git pull podem ser usados para operar num repositório encriptado deste tipo. O objetivo é fornecer armazenamento e colaboração git confidenciais e autenticados usando hosts ou serviços de ficheiros típicos não confiáveis.
