Prise en charge des Internationalized Domain Names (IDN)

GNU Libidn est une implémentation des spécifications Stringprep, Punycode et IDNA définies par le groupe de travail Internationalized Domain Names (IDN) de l'IETF. Elle est utilisée pour préparer des chaînes internationalisées (telles que les labels de noms de domaine, les noms d'utilisateur et les mots de passe) afin d'augmenter la probabilité que la saisie et la comparaison de chaînes fonctionnent de manière pertinente pour les utilisateurs typiques du monde entier. La bibliothèque contient une implémentation générique de Stringprep qui effectue la normalisation Unicode 3.2 NFKC, le mappage et l'interdiction de caractères, ainsi que la gestion des caractères bidirectionnels. Des profils pour iSCSI, Kerberos 5, Nameprep, SASL et XMPP sont inclus. Punycode et ASCII Compatible Encoding (ACE) via IDNA sont pris en charge.
