Why self-hosting changes the trust model

A self-hosted gateway changes the trust boundary; it does not remove the hosting provider, network path, DNS, endpoint, patching, or incident-response obligations.

A remote-access tunnel can carry selected private routes, but firewall policy and target-environment tests must establish what is actually reachable.
