Este paquete proporciona macros para hacer que la E/S de archivos en plain TeX sea más transparente. Es decir, cada operación \input, \openin y \openout de TeX se presenta al usuario, quien debe comprobar cuidadosamente si el nombre de archivo del origen es aceptable. El usuario a veces debe introducir texto adicional y especificar el nombre de archivo que debe usar la operación de TeX. Las macros requieren un procedimiento de instalación complejo; el paquete contiene scripts de sed y bash para hacerlo en un sistema operativo tipo UNIX. Cada instalación es distinta de cualquier otra, ya que los nombres de macros protegidos por contraseña y los mensajes privados deben ser elegidos por el instalador. Por tanto, los archivos del paquete no se pueden usar directamente. Los archivos llevan la extensión .org, y solo después de que el usuario haya realizado una personalización individual para una instalación privada, los archivos modificados se renombran y tienen la extensión .tex.
