About ssh-pairing

Passwordless SSH key exchange through pairing

This project links 2 native package records across 2 recorded operating-system releases. Compare the retained versions and architectures below, then open the package for your own release.

These are catalog observations, not a guarantee of installation, compatibility, or upstream support.

Source-reported description

The fullest retained description is shown with its source. Distribution packaging descriptions may include downstream details.

This tool allows to use pairing (like bluetooth, kde connect, ...) for exchanging public SSH keys, basically as alternative to ssh-copy-id. With this, setting up SSH authentication is more user friendly, as the user's public key does not need to be transferred to the server manually. It is arguably also more secure, as no passwords are involved, not even temporarily just to be able to ssh-copy-id. This tool is design to be used as part of some CLI or TUI, but can also be used manually.

Mapping provenance

Only source-backed identity signals create public cross-OS links. A reviewer can later approve or dispute an inferred relationship without rewriting native package history.
