¿Por qué necesito batctl? B.A.T.M.A.N. advanced opera en la capa 2 y por tanto todos los hosts que participan en el conmutador virtual son completamente transparentes para todos los protocolos por encima de la capa 2. Por ello las herramientas de diagnóstico habituales no funcionan como se espera. Para superar estos problemas se creó batctl. Por el momento batctl contiene ping, traceroute, tcpdump e interfaces a la configuración del módulo del kernel.
