VDE é uma rede virtual que pode ser criada sobre um conjunto de computadores físicos através da Internet VDE conecta em conjunto: (1) máquinas reais GNU-linux (tuntap) (2) máquinas virtuais: UML-User Mode Linux, qemu, bochs, MPS.
