OpenMandriva

OpenMandriva descends from the same Mandriva heritage as Mageia but took a different technical road. It is an association-run independent project notable for compiling its distribution with the LLVM and Clang toolchain rather than the usual GCC, and for publishing builds aimed at modern processors, including variants optimized for particular AMD CPU generations. The flagship desktop is KDE Plasma, tracked closely, with the project often quick to ship new Plasma technology. Users choose between ROME, the rolling branch, and fixed point releases, with RPM packages managed through DNF. A control center in the Mandriva tradition survives here too, and the community, though compact, is dedicated. OpenMandriva suits people who enjoy a Plasma-first system with unusual engineering choices underneath. Opening it in an OpenFactory browser VM is the quickest way to see that combination in motion without spare hardware.
