A flaw was found in CoreDNS, a DNS server that chains plugins. The DNS-over-QUIC (DoQ) server is vulnerable to unbounded resource growth. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this by opening numerous QUIC streams and sending only one byte per stream, causing the server to spawn excessive goroutines and consume unbounded memory. This leads to memory exhaustion and a Denial of Service (DoS) condition, making the server unresponsive. coredns: github.com/coredns/coredns: CoreDNS: Denial of Service due to unbounded resource growth in DNS-over-QUIC (DoQ) stream handling The CVSS score(s) listed for this vulnerability do not reflect the associated product's status, and are included for informational purposes to better understand the severity of this vulnerability.
