A flaw was found in vm2 (before 3.11.3). Host exceptions can be caught from sandbox code using yield* inside an async generator; closing the generator with return() awaits the value and passes host exceptions back into the sandbox iterator, enabling escape and arbitrary host command execution. Fixed in 3.11.3. vm2: vm2: Arbitrary Code Execution due to sandbox escape vulnerability vm2 is vulnerable to sandbox escape via async generator yield* exception handling that delivers host exceptions into sandbox control flow. A remote unauthenticated attacker who can submit sandboxed async generator code may escape the sandbox and execute arbitrary commands. The CVSS score(s) listed for this vulnerability do not reflect the associated product's status, and are included for informational purposes to better understand the severity of this vulnerability.
