About this system

What the record says about the Dell Pro 5 16, Ubuntu preinstalled, in its own words.

Dell renamed the Latitude line to Dell Pro. This is the middle of it: a 16 inch machine built for fleets, with standard docking, parts that stay available, and firmware that keeps getting updates long enough for a three year refresh to make sense.

It is also one of the few Dell laptops that can be ordered running Ubuntu rather than merely certified for it. Canonical's database lists over a thousand Dell entries; only about twenty five laptops can actually be bought with Linux on them, and this is one of the twenty five.

Dell builds it to order, so the processor, memory and drive are settled with you before the order is placed.

Evidence

Runs the OS you build

Each row is a recorded observation, not a vendor promise. The evidence level says how far that observation was taken.

Not a vendor claim. The hardware is ordinary x86_64 and this image is expected to run on it. Build it and boot it in a test machine before you order.

Preinstalled, not just certified. Dell sells this machine with Ubuntu on it, so it arrives running Linux and there is nothing to remove. Canonical certifies the same model against Ubuntu 24.04 LTS; the link is that record.
