About this system

What the record says about the Dell Pro 5 Micro, Ubuntu preinstalled, in its own words.

OptiPlex is gone. Dell's own page says the line is no longer available. This is what replaced the OptiPlex Micro: a micro sized business desktop under the Dell Pro name, small enough to bolt behind a monitor.

The reason to pick it over the cheaper minis in this catalog is that Dell will sell it to you running Ubuntu. Nothing to install, nothing to take off first, and the firmware and drivers were tested against the operating system it arrives with.

Dell builds it to order, so the processor, memory and drive are settled with you before the order is placed.

Evidence

Runs the OS you build

Each row is a recorded observation, not a vendor promise. The evidence level says how far that observation was taken.

Not a vendor claim. The hardware is ordinary x86_64 and this image is expected to run on it. Build it and boot it in a test machine before you order.

Preinstalled, not just certified. Dell sells this machine with Ubuntu on it, so it arrives running Linux. The link is Canonical's certificate for the Pro 5 Micro against Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
