About this system

What the record says about the Dell XPS 14, Ubuntu preinstalled, in its own words.

On Dell's own configurator for this machine Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is the operating system that comes selected, and Windows 11 Pro is a 730 dollar upgrade from there. That is backwards from almost every other laptop on sale, where Linux is the thing you install after the machine turns up.

It suits someone who wants one well made portable machine and does not want to spend the first evening removing an operating system they did not ask for. The screen and the chassis are the reason to pick it over a plainer business laptop.

Dell builds it to order, so the processor, memory and drive are settled with you before the order is placed.

Evidence

Runs the OS you build

Each row is a recorded observation, not a vendor promise. The evidence level says how far that observation was taken.

Not a vendor claim. The hardware is ordinary x86_64 and this image is expected to run on it. Build it and boot it in a test machine before you order.

Preinstalled, not just certified. Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is the operating system selected by default when this machine is configured, so it arrives running Linux and Windows is the paid option. Canonical also certifies the DA14260; the link is that record.
