About this system
What the record says about the OpenFactory NAS, in its own words.
Four bays is the point where a home or small office array stops being a compromise. It holds backups, media and a few virtual machine images, and it survives one drive failure with room to rebuild.
Running ordinary Linux on it means the disks stay readable anywhere. There is no proprietary volume format to be locked out of on the day the box itself dies.
It arrives built, with all four bays populated and the array already created. The bays are hot-swap, so replacing a failed drive does not mean opening the case.
