About this system

What the record says about the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, in its own words.

The Zero 2 W is a quad core Pi the size of a stick of gum, with 512 MB of memory, wireless on board and no Ethernet. It draws almost nothing and it costs 15 dollars.

It is the only board in this catalog that the memory repricing left alone, because 512 MB of old memory is not what AI datacentres are buying. Everything else here is up roughly two to two and a half times since October 2025. This is still the price it always was.

512 MB rules out a desktop and rules out most containers. It suits a job with one purpose: a sensor that posts readings, a print server, a camera, a script that has to be running at three in the morning. Raspberry Pi builds it until at least January 2030.

Runs the OS you build

Each row is a recorded observation, not a vendor promise. The evidence level says how far that observation was taken.

OpenFactory builds Raspberry Pi OS images for this platform. Use Lite. This board has 512 MB, which is under the 1 GB our Lite recipe records as a minimum and well under the 2 GB the desktop recipe wants; Lite is what Raspberry Pi ships on this board.

Build the image you plan to run on console.openfactory.tech, boot it in a test machine there, and order this system once you have seen it work.
